Deforestation began to start in the Middle Ages, when Europeansfelled forests to increase the area of land for agriculture. Later the devastation would be extended to the new world, when settlers were filled with the extraction of natural abundance.

With the development of industrial capitalism, led to increaseddeforestation. Today, the problem of deforestation is much higher indeveloping countries, but its consequences affect the global ecosystem.

Brazil has concentrated 30% of tropical forest areas of the earth. In 1988, s satellites showed that deforestation of the Amazon had already reached 12% of the region. The causes of drought, is due to deforestation.
